OMV Petrom completes new environmental investment

OMV Petrom has finalized a EUR 20 million investment aimed at upgrading the wastewater treatment infrastructure at the Petrobrazi Refinery. The project focused on enhancing environmental performance by covering existing tanks and installing advanced systems designed to capture and treat wastewater gases more effectively.

Under the new setup, collected gases pass through three successive treatment stages: chemical processing, filtration through activated carbon, and thermal oxidation. This multi-step approach ensures a significantly higher level of purification and supports stricter environmental standards.

The latest works form part of a broader, long-term modernization strategy at Petrobrazi. Since 2005, OMV Petrom has invested more than EUR 2 billion to upgrade refinery operations, boost energy efficiency and align production with the transition toward low-carbon fuels.
