Festo Production opens new testing lab facility in Sofia

Bulgaria’s Festo Production, part of German automation technology supplier Festo, has invested more than BGN 500 000 in a testing and calibrating laboratory it just opened in Sofia. Spanning over 943 square meters, the laboratory employs 17 staff working on high-tech products in the fields of electric automation, pneumatic supply, pneumatic controls, life sciences technology and electromagnetic compatibility. The new facility enables Festo’s operations in Bulgaria to transform from a production-only to a high-tech R&D business, stated Festo Production’s Managing director Kaloyan Dobrev.

Festo intends to grow its technical engineering centre in Bulgaria and to develop the team’s expertise in new technologies and products such as servo motors, PCB layout, a crucial step in electronics manufacturing, and software, including edge device software, as well as robotics and cable development.
