The 2026 Taiwan International Tools & Hardware Expo x International Hardware Expo Taiwan (TiTE x IHT) will take place from October 20 to 22 at the Taichung International Convention & Exhibition Center (TICEC). Organized by the Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers´ Association and Lanza International Co., Ltd., the exhibition will bring together 450 exhibitors across more than 1000 booths. Under the theme "TEAM TAIWAN: From Manufacturing to Co-Creation|Empowerment & Smart Upgrading", this year´s event will focus on smart manufacturing, international distribution channels and Taiwan´s industrial clusters.

More than 100 hosted international buyers, the highest number in the exhibition´s history, are expected to attend, alongside over 25 international trade media outlets. Terutaka Takeda, Vice Chairperson of the Japan DIY-HC Association, will lead a delegation to the event. The opening ceremony will also feature Australian firefighters presenting Taiwan-made tools, highlighting the importance of reliable equipment in emergency and rescue operations.

International demand drives the hosted buyer program

Following the signing of the Taiwan – U.S. reciprocal trade agreement in February, which eased uncertainty over tariffs, international orders are gradually recovering. Taking place immediately after the autumn session of the Canton Fair, TiTE x IHT offers buyers already sourcing products in Asia an opportunity to include Taichung in their business itineraries.

To reach new customers amid ongoing supply chain realignment, the organizers promoted the exhibition at major international events, including International Hardware Fair Cologne, the Global DIY-Summit in Amsterdam, Automechanika Frankfurt, the JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW, the China International Hardware Show in Shanghai and Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City. The campaign included direct outreach to retailers, brand owners and importers.

Hosted buyers will come from five continents, with North America leading, followed by Germany and Japan, as well as emerging markets in Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East and Latin America. Invitations have also been extended to the sourcing teams of global tool brands such as Stanley Black & Decker, Snap-on, Würth, KTC and TONE, and home improvement retailers including Leroy Merlin, Kingfisher, OBI, Hornbach, Ace Hardware and HomePro.

Last year´s exhibition attracted more than 500 international buyers from 70 countries. This year´s hosted buyer program is focused on decision-makers from brands, retail chains and importing companies, with the organizers expecting international attendance to reach a new high.

On October 19, the day before the exhibition opens, Taiwan´s International Trade Administration and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will organize a sourcing meeting connecting nearly 60 international buyers with Taiwanese suppliers through one-to-one business meetings. Buyers will then be able to visit TiTE x IHT and nearby factories, combining supplier meetings, exhibition visits and factory audits in a single trip.

From hand tools to smart manufacturing applications

The exhibition will cover a broad range of industrial applications, including digital torque tools, automated warehousing, testing and calibration equipment, and aerospace-grade special alloys for high-end applications. It will also continue to follow the ISO 14067-certified product carbon footprint standard for green exhibitions, reflecting the industry´s focus on sustainability.

Pre-registered domestic buyers represent sectors such as semiconductor facilities, aerospace, rail maintenance, steel and retail. Their participation illustrates the expanding demand for hardware and tools beyond traditional distribution, particularly in high-tech facility operations and equipment maintenance.

Taiwan and Japan strengthen cooperation in home improvement retail

Following last year´s exchange with Japan´s Tsubame-Sanjo metalworking region, cooperation between Taiwan and Japan is expanding. The Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers´ Association and the Japan DIY-HC Association have established a reciprocal exhibition exchange that includes promotional booths at each other´s events, buyer delegations and joint marketing activities.

Organized by the Japan DIY-HC Association, the JAPAN DIY HOMECENTER SHOW is holding its 62nd edition this year and is a major event for Japan´s home improvement retail sector. In August, representatives of the association and the TiTE x IHT team promoted the Taiwanese exhibition in Japan. In October, Vice Chairperson Takeda will lead a delegation to Taichung, attend the opening ceremony and deliver a keynote address. The exchange is intended to strengthen direct links between Taiwanese manufacturers and Japanese home improvement retailers, opening up further opportunities for business cooperation.

Australian firefighters demonstrate the reliability of Taiwanese tools

Reliable equipment is essential for disaster preparedness and rescue operations. Cutting, prying, fastening, lighting and repair tools are widely used in emergencies, where high temperatures, smoke and time pressure leave little room for equipment failure. Their performance depends on materials, forging, heat treatment and precision machining – capabilities developed over decades by central Taiwan´s hand tool industry.

At the opening ceremony, five firefighters from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, representing the Australian Firefighters Calendar, will present products from five Taiwanese manufacturers. Their participation will highlight the performance and reliability of Taiwan-made tools from the perspective of frontline users.

The exhibition will feature eight zones covering tools and accessories; metalworking processes and equipment; fasteners; automotive repair and electric vehicle applications; plant equipment and industrial safety; gardening, agriculture and outdoor products; construction and home improvement; and smart manufacturing and automation. Together, the zones will showcase the breadth of Taiwan´s hardware supply chain.

Global Hardware Summit explores AI, materials and decarbonization

Running from October 20 to 21, the Global Hardware Summit will be held under the theme "TEAM TAIWAN: From Resilient Manufacturing to Smart Co-Creation". Its six sessions will address three key industry challenges: identifying new markets, increasing product value and making factories smarter and more sustainable.

The market-focused sessions will feature Vice Chairperson Takeda discussing how Japanese home improvement retailers select products and business partners. Professors Wu Kuang-Wen of Feng Chia University and Huang Shaio-Yan of National Chung Cheng University, together with Chen Hsien-Li, Chairman of Haoad Data, will examine how artificial intelligence can help small and medium-sized enterprises reach international markets and connect with suitable buyers.

On product development, Dr. Hsu Hsiao-Hung of China Steel Corporation will discuss cooperation across the supply chain, from materials to manufacturing processes, and opportunities to upgrade both steel production and downstream tool manufacturing.

The sessions on smart and low-carbon manufacturing will feature Dean Chi Hsin-Yi, Professor Yu Tsung-Lung of National Chung Hsing University and Dr. Hsieh Tsung-Hsun, General Manager of Taiwan Smart Green Technology, discussing AI applications across Taiwanese industry. Professor Chang Wan-Jung of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology will address AI-driven digital and green transformation, while Yu Tun-Ming of the ASE verification center will explore how companies can strengthen their carbon competitiveness.

Together, the six sessions will cover the path from market demand and materials development to smart production and carbon management.

Taichung´s industrial cluster supports the next stage of growth

"With tariffs settled and orders recovering, Taiwan´s hardware industry is entering a new phase of growth", said Alan Hsieh, Chairman of the Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers´ Association, and Andrew Liu, General Manager of Lanza International.

They noted that the participation of more than 100 international buyers and 25 international media outlets, alongside the return delegation from the Japan DIY-HC Association, reflects growing international interest in Taiwan´s hardware sector. They also highlighted Taichung´s industrial cluster, developed over generations through the work of manufacturers and small and medium-sized enterprises specializing in materials, forging, heat treatment and precision machining.

According to the organizers, the industry´s response to tariff challenges last year has paved the way for closer cooperation with international customers on the next generation of products. By combining the region´s established manufacturing expertise with smart manufacturing technologies and support from the government, Taiwan´s hardware industry aims to strengthen its international partnerships and develop new opportunities for growth.
