Standex Electronics opens new Croatian factory

Standex Electronics has opened a new manufacturing facility in Cestica, a municipality in the northern Croatian county of Varazdin, with plans to create around 150 jobs over the next three years. The plant will produce low- and medium-voltage instrument transformers serving a broad range of sectors. As the company put it, the facility will support “utilities, renewable energy systems, data centers, smart grid applications, and broader energy infrastructure markets” across Europe. The factory was opened in cooperation with Narayan Powertech, an Indian manufacturer of instrument transformers, magnetic components, and metering systems, which operates as a subsidiary of Standex International.

Standex International is a US-based multi-industry manufacturer operating across four business segments – electronics, aerospace and defense, scientific, and engraving and hydraulics – with a presence in the United States, Europe, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Mexico, Turkiye, India, and China.

The Varazdin county head, Andjelko Stricak, highlighted the broader context that makes the investment particularly significant. “This investment is all the more valuable because the European Commission plans to invest around EUR 584 billion euro in the renovation of its electricity networks by 2030”, he said, noting that the factory would supply transformers not only for Croatia but for the whole of Europe.

The company expects the Croatian facility to generate at least USD 60 million in sales from European customers within five years, according to Croatian daily Jutarnji List.

Standex described the opening as a strategic step in expanding its regional presence. “The new facility expands our European manufacturing footprint and strengthens our ability to support customers across the region,” the company said, adding that “as electrification and grid modernization continue to accelerate globally, investments like this position Standex to better serve customers with regional manufacturing capability, operational excellence, and responsive support closer to where it’s needed most.”
