Smart Solar Technologies invests EUR 123 million in new Bulgarian plant

Turkiye’s Smart Solar Technologies announced plans to build a BGN 240 million (EUR 122,7 million) solar panel and cell manufacturing plant in the central municipality of Stara Zagora. The project is expected to create 812 new jobs.

The factory’s production will primarily be exported to key European markets, including Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Austria. The investment is considered a priority under Bulgaria’s Investment Promotion Act, which targets projects that are key for the country’s economic development, according to the statement from Bulgaria’s government.
As part of the Turkish company Smart Gunes Enerjisi Teknolojileri, Smart Solar Technologies, has an annual production capacity of 2,9 GW for solar modules and 2 GW for solar cells.
