Slovenia’s Ribnica is one of the possible locations for Japanese robotic manufacturer Yaskawa Electric Corporation’s new production centre, revealed company executives and government officials. Slovenia is currently shortlisted alongside the Czech Republic and Poland for a possible location. The final decision, however, will be known in the beginning of 2016.

Yaskawa has two subsidiaries in Ribnica - Yaskawa Slovenija and Yaskawa Ristro, which earned revenue of EUR 25 million last year, while this year, the figure is expected to increase towards EUR 35 million.

At a celebration marking the company’s 100th anniversary, the president of Yaskawa Robotics Europe Bruno Schnekenburger noted that Slovenia is a good candidate for the project, while president and executive director of Yaskawa Europe Manfred Stern said the country’s dynamics offer good growth prospects.

”Japanese investments in Slovenia in 2013 amounted to EUR 44,4 million. I believe that there is still room for improvement. In the following months, the government will strive to create favourable business conditions for new investors as well as existing investors,” said Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar.
