Siemens AG will bundle its respective activities in one large unit. By the measure, Siemens hopes to save 1.5 billion Euro initially. Presently, these activities are spread over Siemens Business Services (SBS) in Munich, Program and System Engineering (PSE) in Vienna, Siemens Information Systems Ltd. (SISL) in Bangalore, Development Innovation and Projects (DIP) in Greece and Business Innovation Center (BIC) in Switzerland.

From 01.01.2007, these activities will be merged into the future Siemens IT Solutions and Services (SIS) unit, headquartered in Munich and Vienna. Christoph Kollatz, presently CEO of SBS, will manage the new unit.

The company intends to concentrate specific expertise today distributed across diverse units in the new group and give it a sector-specific orientation. By doing so, Siemens hopes to create synergies while at the same time improve the productivity of the software creation process. However, product specific software responsibilities including embedded software development will remain at the respective business units, for instance medical solutions, power distribution or traffic control solutions.
