Schneider Electric buys APC
Schneider Electric announced to acquire all outstanding shares of American Power Conversion (APC) for about 6.1 billion USD. The price offered represents a 30 percent premium to APCs closing price as of Oct. 27. APC’s board of directors already has approved the transaction. APC presently is the global leader in the critical power business in terms of sales. In 2005, the company had achieved sales of 2 billion USD.
APC will be combined with Schneider Electric’s MGE UPS systems. The move creates the world’s largest vendor of uninterruptible power supplies for IT and industrial applications, the company said. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2007.
