Palfinger invests in new location in Serbia

Palfinger is expanding its European production network as part of its growth strategy. The company, specialized in crane and lifting solutions, is investing EUR 35,5 million in a new component plant in Nis. Production in the new facility will start in 2024. Around 375 new jobs will have been created in the region by the time the plant reaches completion in 2027.

“With the new plant in Nis, we are expanding our capacities and ensuring optimum utilization of all our other production sites in Europe. Our commitment in Nis is also an important and visible sign of the reindustrialization of Europe, to which Palfinger is actively contributing with this plant”, explained Palfinger CEO Andreas Klauser. In recent years, a number of manufacturing companies from the European Union, including from Austria, have already become established in Nis. The best possible conditions are created for successful commercial relations thanks to targeted support from the Serbian government.

“Because of its qualified workforce, strategic location, and economic support for development, Nis is an ideal production site for Palfinger. We see this investment as the start of a successful long-term partnership. The Serbian government knows how to offer international technology companies such as Palfinger attractive conditions for successful establishment”, added Andreas Klauser.

Following the completion of the first construction phase in 2024, Palfinger will gradually establish the production of steel- and sub-components in Nis for a wide variety of product lines, from loader cranes to access platforms until 2027. The component plant is characterized by a series of proactive, energy-saving and energy-generating features. The photovoltaic systems covering a roof area of 15 000 square meters alone will provide around two megawatts of peak power output when completed. Using the latest cooling and heating technology ensures the best climate inside the factory at all times.
