OMV Petrom opens Romania`s largest electric vehicle charging hub

OMV Petrom is enhancing its electric mobility infrastructure by introducing high-power charging stations for electric trucks, featuring 400 kW chargers across its network. The company has launched Romania`s largest EV charging hub at Miercurea Sibiului on the A1 motorway, comprising 34 fast-charging stations – 17 in each direction – with 16 designated for electric cars and 18 for electric trucks.

The hub offers advanced high-capacity chargers: passenger car units provide up to 300 kW, allowing most EVs to fully charge in 15 to 20 minutes. For electric trucks, 400 kW chargers reduce charging time to just 1,5 to 2 hours, compared to overnight charging with lower-capacity options. The total installed capacity at the site reaches 10 MW, equally split between both travel directions. Users can pay via nearby payment terminals or through the OMV eMotion mobile app, which also shows real-time charger availability and supports digital payments.
