Nidec invests nearly BGN 5 million in R&D in Bulgaria

Nidec Elesys RnD Europe Bulgaria, part of Japanese electric motor manufacturer Nidec Corporation, is investing some BGN 4,83 million in research and development (R&D), the Bulgaria’s Ministry of Innovation and Growth reported.

The company plans to put together an R&D team which will focus on electronic traction inverters, onboard and outboard chargers, converters and different motor drive applications, the Bulgarian Ministry of Innovation and Growth added. The initiative is expected to create 70 jobs and was awarded a Class A investment certificate by the Ministry.
In December, Nidec opened its first European R&D centre in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia, investing USD 3,5 million in the project. That same month, the company allocated over EUR 1,5 million to software licence and hardware equipment in Bulgaria.
