Micron honours Rutronik as “European Distributor of the year 2007” - Franchise extended to the whole of Europe

At October 1, 2008 Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH has been named “Distributor of the year 2007” by Micron Technology, leading supplier of memory solutions. Having become the largest and most important Micron sales partner for the whole of Europe, this is now the fourth time the broadliner has received an award for its continuous expansion in sales volume. Whereas the awards for 2004 to 2006 acknowledged its achievements in Central Europe, the latest prize to be bestowed honours its commitment to the whole of Europe for 2007. The franchise partnership, which dates back to 2001, is based on the successful marketing of CMOS image sensors, DRAM and flash products. As Rutronik was able to make a decisive impact on the Central European market for Micron in 2007, the franchise has been extended to all European countries. In the future the partners intend to open up further market potential across Europe. This will involve placing a strong focus on flash products such as managed NANDs and embedded USBs. These are adapted to the special requirements for industrial applications.
The steady expansion of industrial client business in Europe, alongside automotive - Rutronik’s highest-turnover segment, is also reflected in this award. “Clearly, what the customer particularly values about Rutronik is its consultancy-based approach, from product selection through to design-in and logistical support“, stresses Beate Kohlmann, Account Manager Central Europe at Micron Semiconductor (Deutschland) GmbH. The need for technical support is steadily increasing due to the growing complexity of products and technologies. There is a demand for meaningful total solutions which already take into account all the advantages and disadvantages of individual components. Here, depending on the complexity of the terms of reference, support is provided by the Rutronik Development Centres and the Tools & Applications Centre as well as product management and field application engineers. “We see ourselves as a solutions provider“, says Markus Krieg, Head of the Semiconductor Division at Rutronik, summing up the distributor’s integrated approach.
