Microchip posts record sales
Microchip Technology has posted record net sales for its financial fourth quarter and record net income. The Arizona-based maker of microcontrollers and analogue chips reported sales of $247.2m, up 5.2 per cent sequentially and up 18.8 per cent from the same period a year ago. For the fiscal year, net sales climbed to $927.9m, a 9.6 per cent increase from the previous year.
“We are very pleased to have delivered another record quarter in nearly every respect. Both our microcontroller and analogue product revenues grew sequentially to record levels in the March 2006 quarter, allowing Microchip to achieve record net sales levels overall. While our overall microcontroller revenue grew 4.9 per cent sequentially and 17.8 per cent from the year ago quarter, our flash microcontrollers were up a strong 9.6 per cent sequentially and up 42 per cent compared to the same quarter last fiscal year,” said Steve Sanghi, president and CEO.
