Lafarge Srbija secures EUR 11 mln state subsidy for new cement plant

Lafarge Srbija will receive a EUR 10,6 million state subsidy to support the construction of a new cement plant in Obrenovac, Belgrade, the Serbian economy ministry said.
The company, part of Switzerland’s Holcim Group, plans to invest EUR 112,25 million in the facility by 2027. Lafarge Srbija will hire 51 additional employees by 2026, maintaining at least 320 permanent staff for five years after completion.

The subsidy, covering 9,46% of the investment, will be disbursed in three annual tranches between 2026 and 2028.The Obrenovac plant will use ashes from nearby thermal power plants operated by state utility EPS, under a 10-year contract to supply 20 million tons of ashes.

Lafarge also acquired the Jazovnik quarry to support logistics for the new facility. In 2024, the company posted revenues of RSD 21,8 billion and a net profit of RSD 5,5 billion.
