Krka opens new EUR 20 million facility

Krka opened its new Paviljon 3 that features additional microbiology laboratories, Library and Information Services, training facilities, and business premises of the Supply Chain department. This EUR 20 million investment, covering an area of 9600 m2, allowed Krka to finish another important phase in its development. The new facility provides even better conditions for ensuring microbiological quality of pharmaceutical products, allows researchers quick access to information needed to develop products in innovative pharmaceutical forms, and facilitates knowledge enhancement in computing, digitisation and information systems.

“At Krka, we are aware that as scientific and technological discoveries are rapidly advancing and markets are getting increasingly complex, we must constantly invest in equipment and knowledge to deliver advanced new products on time, while maintaining the highest quality. That is why, in May 2022, we started building Paviljon 3 at Krka’s central location in Locna near Novo mesto”, explained the company.

Microbiology laboratories occupy the largest portion of the facility, accounting for 40% of the area. They are an important addition, enabling more microbiological analyses to be carried out to meet the demands of an ever-increasing production volume and to comply with stricter requirements of good manufacturing practice regarding the microbiological quality of products, environment, equipment, personnel and utilities.

The new facility stands on the site of a former building where Krka’s development saw its beginnings and in which Krka’s library was established in 1962. The role of the library has been taken over by Library and Information Services tasked with providing professional information to the entire company.

One of the floors is dedicated to facilities for training and team work, where training in computing, digitisation and information systems is already taking place. In addition to classrooms, the training facilities also include two computer rooms.
