The Italian company Calzedonia, a world leader in the textile industry, opened today in Subotica its second factory in Serbia. Factory ”Gordon”, a daughter company of the Italian giant has started with trial production last year, currently employs 450 workers and plans to hire a total of 1,000 workers. The company so far invested E15 millionis in the realization of this project.
”Calzedonia” successfully operating in Serbia since 2008, primarily through its factory ”Fiorano” in Sombor, which currently employs 1,250 workers. Its export in 2013 was E18.6 million, while the total investment reached E30 million. Also, the company plans to open its third factory in Apatin, Serbia, where they planned investment of over E25 million and hiring over 200 employees.
The company ”Calzedonia” was founded in 1987 in Verona, currently employs more than 26,000 people worldwide and manufactures children’s, women’s and men’s hosiery, swimwear and underwear. In 2012, a group of ”Calzedonia” S.p.A. consisting of the following companies: Calzedonia, Intimissimi, Tezenis, Falconeri, and distribution companies and retailers of finished product groups - ”Calzedonia” - ”Cash & Carry”, reported revenue of И1.5 Billion. The production takes place according to highest technological standards in the textile industry and the high standards of environmental protection.
As a socially responsible company ”Calzedonia” with its companies in Serbia immediately responded to call the Serbian Government and actively involved in the provision of humanitarian assistance to vulnerable areas after severe flooding in May 2014.
