EIB helps Romania to fulfill environmental projects

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will help Romania fulfill its environmental projects by giving the country a EUR 300 million loan. The fund will be used for adapting Romania’s ecological standards to those of the European Union.

This goal will cost the country about EUR 4,5 billion, which will be delivered through a variety of European programs. The government of Romania will also support the implementations of the environmental projects. The change in Romanian ecology will be all encompassing and improvements will be made in the sphere of waste management, wastewater, water, protection and sustaining of biological diversity, climate change adjustment, and reconstruction of ecological systems.

The loan of EUR 300 million is the first step of active cooperation between Romania and the EIB, and different economic sectors will be supported, the Vice President of EIB Cristian Popa has emphasized. There will be projects in the fields of transport, development of rural areas, support for SMEs, etc.
