The European Commission has set a budget of 63 million euro for organic electronics research under the Information Society Technologies (IST) part of the Framework Program 7 of collaborative research, according to a report from the EC Information Society Technologies (IST). According to the report, that following technology areas were part of the research plan: printable processes and corresponding equipment and materials, flexible interconnects and device encapsulation, device architecture and design, logic, memory, RF, sensing, photovoltaics, OLEDs, energy scavenging and power management. The expected applications include: e-paper, flexible displays, RFID tags, lighting, sensors, lab-on-chip, systems-in-foil, and sheet batteries.
A call for organic electronic collaborative research proposals is expected to close in April or May of 2007.
