Digital power control without programming offers Texas Instruments

Texas Instruments proposed a technique for digital power management of onboard point-of-load (POL) converters which does not require programming. TI’s single-phase UCD9111 and dual-phase UCD9112 controllers are designed to be configured via GUI for monitoring, control and management. According to TI, this avoids the need for the user to be able to write complex software to programme the devices.

The UCD9111 and UCD9112 devices support up to 80 PMBus interface commands for control, configuration and management of the power supply via the standard I2C bus. The controllers incorporate so called accelerator peripheral, which performs full-digital loop control while supporting switching frequencies of up to 2MHz.
