Diehl Aviation launches construction of new facility in Romania

Diehl Aviation has officially launched construction of a new state-of-the-art production facility in Craiova, Romania, marking a major milestone in the company’s strategic expansion across Europe. This investment aims to meet rising global demand in the aviation industry and strengthen Diehl’s manufacturing capabilities within the EU.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on July 30, was attended by a number of high-ranking Romanian officials, including Dorin Cosmin Vasile, President of the Dolj County Council; Member of Parliament Adrian Caciu; Senator Alexandra Presura; and Daniela Barbu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Social Solidarity. Their presence highlighted the project’s significance for regional development and industrial growth.

The new facility will focus on producing key components and systems for commercial passenger aircraft, positioning Diehl Aviation to ensure more reliable deliveries as global production rates in the sector continue to accelerate. The company plans to invest a mid-double-digit million-euro sum into the project, which will include over 12 000 square meters of production and office space.

Initial operations are expected to begin in mid-2026, shortly after the completion of construction. At launch, the site will employ around 75 people, with plans to expand to approximately 500 employees in the medium term.

The Craiova site will operate in close coordination with Diehl Aviation’s existing facilities in Hungary and Germany, enhancing the company’s flexibility and resilience across its European supply chain. The expanded footprint is intended to improve delivery performance, optimize cost structures, and strengthen Diehl’s ability to meet customer demands more effectively.
