In extreme weather conditions during hurricanes or blizzards accompanied by heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures, the ideal conditions for wires and poles to become iced are observed. Mechanical calculations made are under certain conditions, but when the calculation parameters are exceeded, the wires break and the poles are destroyed. Replacing them with similar ones is a long and difficult process, usually lasting more than a week.

 

Easy to transport and install

Since 2012, under a trade mark of Power-line, FRP Composite Poles had been developed and manufactured by Handjiev Ltd. for the Bulgarian MV Network.
Having a unique patented construction of three modulus, Composite Utility Poles (CUP) comply with IEC requirements and are intended for permanent or emergency replacement of intermediate and anchor concrete spoon pillars or wooden poles and latticed steel towers for Overhead Line of 24 kV in Hard-to-reach mountain areas without roads.

The Anchor CUP has a withstand peak lateral top force of 15 kN, while the Intermediate one has a withstand peak lateral top force of 10 kN.
Modulus of the Composite pole are truncated cone-shaped, with a circular cross-section and each with a maximum length of 5 m and a maximum weight of 60 kg, creating a 13 m long structure with a gross weight of 150 kg.

It allows to be transported by a lightweight truck, such as Ford Ranger/Dacia Duster, off-road in the mountains to the site and then to be carried by two installers by hand to the place of installation.

•  H. deflection limit: 25%;
•  Suitable for construction in seismically active areas.
