Bulgarian Devnya Cement begins the realization of large investment project

250 million euro will be invested in the reconstruction and modernization of the cement factory in Devnya, Bulgaria. The full construction phase begins in the immediate future with more than 1000 persons employed, and is expected to be completed in two years. The agreement with the general contractor – Strabag - was signed last August. Strabag will work with a Chinese partner, CBMI.
This new factory in Devnya will begin operations in early 2012 and will bring the best available technology to Bulgaria with the most modern and up-to-date process and environmental control systems in accordance to the sustainability environmental policies of Italcementi Group.
It will utilize the dry production method and will have capacity to produce over 7,000 tons of clinker per day. Annual cement capacity will reach more than 3.0 million tons. This project will provide numerous economic and environmental benefits like: improved energy efficiency and utilization of alternative fuels, significant reduction of CO2 emissions, increased quality of the production process, further improvement of the safety and workplace conditions for all employees.
