AMD opens office in Bucharest

NewsSouth-East European INDUSTRIAL Мarket - issue 5/2006

Advanced Micro Devices has opened a new office in Bucharest in an effort to coordinate operations in Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary.

“The East-European market is now growing fast and the expectation is that the same growth will continue,” said Pierre Brunswick, AMD marketing and sales vicepresident for Russia, Turkey and other countries in the area. “Therefore we thought it would be important to establish a permanent presence in Romania and have on our team someone who could work directly with customers in meeting their needs as well as to strengthen existing partnerships.”

It was unclear whether the new office would encompass only sales operations or whether it also might include design and other activities. It is noted that a survey by IDC at the end of Q2 said that AMD processors had 28.9 per cent of the market in Romania in terms of units sold.
