70 Years of Electronics Excellence Celebrated at Farnell

On 15th of May 2009 Farnell celebrated 70th birthday at the company’s headquarter in Leeds. Commenting on the company reaching its 70th anniversary, Andy King, President, Farnell Europe and Global Head of EDE who joined in June 2008 said, "This is a hugely significant achievement for our business. Over the past 70 years the electronics industry has evolved and developed at a faster rate than perhaps any other sector. The impact that electronics technology now has on the everyday lives of the world’s population is immense. It is remarkable to think that Farnell has played an important long-term role by helping to push new technologies through to design engineers for use in the products that were once only dreamt of, but that we all now take for granted."
Many of the company’s operations across mainland Europe are well established with Farnell Germany and Farnell Spain celebrating their 20th and 10th anniversuries respectively this year. In 2002 Farnell opened an additional European Distribution Centre in Liege, Belgium to service increasing orders from mainland Europe.
